In Thailand ; the currency is the Thai Baht.
The smallest note is 20 Bahts (about half a euro.
It takes 2 bank note of 20 Bahts to eat a bowl of rice or pasta mixed with vegetables and meat or fish, in a very local restaurant, outside the tourist areas.
It takes 2 bowls to make a small meal.
It takes 1000 Baht to make a real and good meal for 2 or 3 people in a pleasant restaurant.

The biggest ticket is 1,000 Baht.

The minimum daily wage for a labourer, for example, is 300 Bahts. This is therefore equivalent to approximately 7,500 Bahs per month.

Anyone can withdraw up to 1,000,000 baht per day at the counter of any bank in the country and without the need to notify in advance.

Anyone can withdraw up to 100,000 baht per day from any ATM; in 5 x 20,000 Baht.

And these 2 sums are constantly deposited and withdrawn because in Thailand; all the consumption is made in cash as soon as you leave the few big cities of the country.


There are several exchange rates between 2 currencies at the same time.
- Depending on the use of banknotes, bank transfer, credit card...
- Depending on whether the operation is considered by the bank as a sale or purchase of currency.

It is your bank that knows the cost of withdrawal or payment operations depending on your type of credit card and the contact that goes with it.

Via the SWIFT system
Western banks charge around 30 euros+ per transfer and +/- 10 euros for exchange fees.

Via the WISE system
If your payment is made by credit card between your bank and the WISE bank (free within Europe); then by transfer between WISE and our bank account in Bangkok; the total cost of fees is within 1% (often around 0.7%).
It's fast and it's very accurate regarding the fees information ; before doing the operation.

- International iPay system of Visa and Mastercard

The deposit of 20% or some time of 20,000 Bahts for some of our trips; can also be paid by credit card via our online reservation website.
Thai charge for credit card payment is 5%
(this includes taxation which impacts this bank charge).
This amount is automatically added to our iPay link.
The service amounts / bank charges are separate and very clearly indicated on the interface of each of our iPay.
For the rental of private vehicle and driver; we bear these bank charges.

- For the balance in certain cases of our trips and excursions; the balance and to be paid to our guide; in cash and in thai baht.
